Movies that are perfect for a Galentine’s night in.

There’s nothing quite like a movie night with your besties, and this is exactly how me and mine will be spending this Galentine’s season.

Valentine’s day is nearly here but this year we’re not stressing about dates, instead we’re taking a different approach and celebrating the friendships in our life, yep that’s right, it’s all about Galentine’s.

So, grab your girls, your favourite bottle of wine, order your favourite pizza and settle in to celebrate Galentine’s day in style with one of our favourite movies, coincidentally (I think not), all about female friendships!

Wild Child

Starring: Emma Roberts, Kimberley Nixon, Juno Temple, Sophie Wu, Linzey Cocker and Alex Pettyfer

Plot summary: American wild child Poppy Moore is sent to an English boarding school where she wants nothing more than to be expelled, however along the way she starts to discover there may actually be a lot to like.

Stand out moment: The entrance to the dance and the charity shop montage.

I’m sorry, I couldn’t pick just one, they’re both so good!

Monte Carlo

Starring: Selena Gomez, Leighton Meester and Katie Cassidy

Plot summary: When travelling Paris with her best friend and sister, Grace is mistaken for a celebrity and the group finds themselves being whisked away to Monte Carlo in a case of mistaken identity.

Stand out moment: The guided tour of Paris.

Girl's Trip

Starring: Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith and Tiffany Haddish

Plot summary: Lifelong friends, The Flossy Possy, reunite for a long overdue girl’s weekend away.

Stand out moment: The dance off.

In my opinion every movie should include at least one dance off scene, you can’t tell me they’re not the best part!

Aquamarine

Starring: Emma Roberts, JoJo and Sara Paxton

Plot summary: When Claire finds out she is moving to Australia, her and her best friend Hailey need a miracle and when they find a mermaid washed up in their swimming pool in need of help, their wishes may just come true.

Stand out moment: Aqua turning the blue top into a dress, all I’ve ever wanted in life is to be able to do that!

I know it says stand out moment, but I only think it’s fair this movie gets another, after all the starfish earrings can’t go unmentioned.

Pitch Perfect

Starring: Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp and Skylar Astin

Plot Summary: In her freshman year of college, Becca joins an all-girls a cappella group. We follow their journey through an annual a cappella competition as Becca tries to shake things up.

Stand out moment: The Treblemakers finals performance.

The Other Women

Starring: Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann and Kate Upton

Plot Summary: When three women all discover they are romantically involved with the same man, they seek their revenge by joining forces.

Stand out moment: The glass scene

Bratz

Starring: Skyler Shaye, Janel Parrish, Logan Browning and Nathalia Ramos

Plot summary: When the Bratz start high school they find themselves split into different cliques and must find a way to remain friends.

Stand out moment: The food fight.

You’re lying if you say this scene doesn’t look like fun, messy, but fun nonetheless.

Bride Wars

Starring: Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway

Plot summary: Two best friends turn into enemies when they schedule their wedding for the same day and start sabotaging each other’s big day.

Stand out moment: The fake tan vs blue hair

Little Women

Starring: Florence Pugh, Emma Watson, Saoirse Ronan, Eliza Scanlen, Laura Dern, Meryl Streep and Timotheé Chalamet

Plot summary: Little Women is all about sisterhood as the movie follows the lives of four sisters growing up and discovering who they want to be in the world and what they mean to each other.

Stand out moment: Amys monologue.

Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging

Starring: Georgia Groome, Aaron Taylor Johnson and Eleanor Tomlinson

Plot summary: Georgia and her friends have just started high school and are trying to navigate friendship, boys and birthday parties for the first time in their teenage lives.

Stand out moment: The soundtrack.

From start to finish the Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging soundtrack has no skips.

An honourable mention also goes to the pool scene in which Georgia has orange legs.

Bridesmaids

Starring: Kirsten Wiig, Melissa Mcarthy, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne and Rebel Wilson

Plot summary: Annie is asked by her best friend Lillian to be her maid of honour, but things don’t go to plan when Annie lets her personal conflicts with one of the bridesmaids blind sight her from her maid of honour duties.

Stand out moment: The food poisoning at the dress fitting.

This must be everyone’s favourite scene, but it will just never not be funny.

Booksmart

Starring: Kaitlyn Dever and Beanie Feldstein

Plot summary: On the night before graduation, best friends Amy and Molly vow to let loose and make up for lost time on their night of teenage rebellion.

Stand out moment: The pizza delivery car

Heathers

Starring: Winona Ryder and Christian Slater.

Plot summary: Veronica is part of the most popular clique at school: The Heathers, but when she falls for the mysterious new boy JD, his sociopathic behaviour and her dislike for The Heathers escalates an innocent revenge plan into a series of murders.

Stand out moment: Veronica smoking after JD blows himself up.
