UPGRADE YOUR SMOOTHIE
These ingredients will help you get that energy boost you’re looking for. Simply add a tablespoon to your smoothie and let it work its magic:
Protein Powder– adding flavourless protein powder is one of the easiest ways to get more protein and tailor the amount to your personal needs. It blends right in and doesn’t change the flavour. You can also replace the cocoa powder in the “Power Trip” smoothie with a choco-flavour protein powder.
Seeds like flax, hemp, chia or sunflower seeds add a bit of texture to your smoothie, and give a little boost of minerals (especially copper and zinc) and omega-3 fatty acids.
Nut butters such as almond, walnut or pistachio also contribute zinc and copper, along with some protein and fiber.
Avocado adds a silky-smooth add-in to smoothies, and provides the same healthy fats found in olive oil along with some vitamin E.
SIDE NOTE* – Please be mindful that smoothies are not a way to replace meals or to help weight loss by only drinking them, this is dangerous. You should be including smoothies into your day if you’re not getting enough nutrients or meals, or if you’re running late and need a quick and effective way to get your breakfast in.
