Brown is the new black, low rise jeans are back, it is all about street style now and oh, did you know Uggs are now a thing again? Fashion trends have been the backbone of what pieces we decide to purchase each season for as long as we can remember.
The idea of these seasonal trends has rightly been questioned recently with the fashion industry and many people attempting to rework this structure onto a more sustainable path by adopting timeless pieces that can be mixed and matched for every season.
Below are three types of clothing you need in your wardrobe that will last you for whatever trend is coming next.
Versatile pieces are the basis for any good wardrobe. These are the pieces that will carry you through the seasons and will last compared to the latest fad. A white shirt, some basic tees, a knit, a solid pair of jeans and a few other pieces allows you to have endless outfit options, more than you may think. These pieces can be part of a capsule closet if you’re living a more minimal lifestyle and if that doesn’t sound like you, it can mix and match so many occasions and trends. When I have brain fog on how to style my staple pieces, The Anna Edit always shows me how we really have so many different ways to.
Luckily, minimalism is very diverse, and we can add all add this element of fashion into our daily wardrobes. Tonal outfits, silk dresses, linen pieces, classic tops and blazers all fall under minimalism meaning the options are endless.
My personal favourite minimal look is a loose-fitting suit with some gold hoops. For ultimate minimalist inspo, check out Hannah Whiting on insta!
While having neutral staples is a must, equally so is a splash of colour. Splashes of vibrant colours can really elevate your look to the next level. Colour can be daunting, but try and gravitate to the colours that complement your skin tone. If you are fair try and opt for pastels, and if you have a darker complexion brights and neons are the way forward.
A great way to add a splash of colour to your wardrobe is through accessories. For example, take an all-black outfit and add a colourful bag to the look, now it is a whole new look. You can also mix and match this idea with any block colour you have. There are some great options out there at the moment. My personal favourites are the Jacquemus Le Carinu Bag in Pink and the Zara quilted shoulder bags.
