If you didn’t already know by now, the aesthetic industry has become exceedingly popular in the 21st century, with a projected growth of almost 10% every year since 2020, we’re seeing more and more women and men focusing on their appearance, not only to look good for themselves, but to also boost their confidence and remain youthful through aesthetic and wellbeing treatments. A few months ago, I had the pleasure of reviewing a treatment at the ØNE Aesthetic Studiø done by Leading UK Medical Aesthetician, Dermapen educator and beauty sector expert for VTCT, William Foley.
BRAND COLLABORATION: Created in partnership with ØNE AESTHETICS Studio
The studio is an intimate and exclusive aesthetic clinic in Alderley Edge led by Miss Jonquille Chantrey and her team of experts. Jonquille has over 16 years of plastic and cosmetic surgery experience in microsurgery, breast, facial surgery and burns reconstruction. The clinic specializes in a multitude of treatments including Aesthetics/Rejuvenation, Facial Transformation (using Juvederm & Botox), Dermatology & Skin Health, Body Contouring & Liposuction and Psychology Services. The doctors and nurses combine art and medicine to create exceptional aesthetic results, nonetheless, they focus on much more than outer beauty, they pride themselves in blending all aspects of ‘feeling good’ including physical appearance, good health, mental and spiritual well-being.
I was able to review their NuEra Radio-Frequecy treatment which is a is a non-invasive temperature-controlled treatment that works to effectively reduce fat, minimise cellulite, tighten skin, stimulate collagen and smooth wrinkles. I’m a 24-year-old who takes care of herself and stays very active, however, I did have a small buildup of cellulite around my bottom and thigh area which William was able to target with the radio-frequency treatment and visibly reduce the appearance.
Through the treatment, I got to learn more about William and his career and was compelled by his passion and enthusiasm for making people feel good about themselves, physically, mentally and emotionally. I decided to interview him to learn even more about him, his work and his recommendations to the Cult readers.
My journey started around 14 years ago when I attended beauty and skin school for 3 years. I studied everything from skin education to more holistic treatments. After my training, my first job was working with a major global spa brand in the high-end store Harvey Nichols as their skin care specialist. In my first 5 years of being in the industry, I had the pleasure of working with major skin care brands on a regional basis. 6 years into my career, I decided to train as a medical aesthetician as I wanted to be in a more clinical setting with result driven treatments. To achieve this, I had to go into 1 year of further education in advanced skin education, after this it was private aesthetic training.
The favourite part of my job has to be making people feel great. I know my industry can sometimes come across as being superficial, but when you truly look into it, people just want to feel their best and having ethical aesthetic work done can help improve their confidence.
Consultations in my opinion are the most important part of the job; we have to find out from a medical perspective if the patient is suitable for treatment or not. If an error is made in this process the outcome can be detrimental. For instance, if a patient has Raynard’s disease and has come into clinic for a session of CoolSculpting (which uses cold to help reduce stubborn fat) and I’ve not done a consultation with them prior to find out about their medical conditions, the patient could be in a lot of pain during and after the treatment, so, it’s super important!
I guess the biggest myth about getting either Botox or fillers that I’ve overheard is that their face is going to look really puffy, their lips are going to be massive or their face isn’t going to move after having Botox done, which is not always the case. If your injectable work is done correctly by a doctor, dentist or nurse prescriber who knows exactly what they are doing, then these problems should not be happening. Making sure you’re doing your research to find the best practitioner before having any injectable work done is very important.
I think the biggest mistake you can make when getting aesthetic work done is not doing your research, researching your treatment but also researching your practitioner and clinic is crucial if you want clinically proven treatments that are going to work.
The radio frequency procedure we use in the clinic is called the NuEra skin tightening by Lumines and it’s fantastic, we can treat skin laxity on the face and body and our patients are so happy with the results they are getting. Specific areas we treat on the face are the neck, lower face, around the eyes and forehead and I typically set all my patients up on a treatment plan throughout the year to help keep the skin nice and firm. On the body we can treat areas like the abdomen, legs, arms and buttocks. The device covers everything from skin tightening, fat loss, cellulite reduction and bum lifting.
I would advise my patients for a minimum of 4 treatments to see the best results.
Non-invasive treatments are on the rise and a lot of people are looking at doing this instead of or alongside invasive work. My first step with every patient is to address skin quality by putting them on a skincare programme for 8 weeks this alone can really improve someone’s appearance and how they feel, thereafter I would address the more structural issues such as skin tightening or skin scarring etc. And of course, it would all start with the most important part, a consultation.
My personal favourite treatment at the moment is to use the NuEra skin tightening device. It has a medical approach but with a luxurious touch.
