World TV Day – The Best On Screen Moments From 2022

Hello and welcome to what I am naming ‘The Cohorted Cult Television Awards of 2022’.

With World TV Day fast approaching I have taken it upon myself to host my own award show and share with you my favourite TV shows and TV moments from 2022.

Yes- the awards given may be extremely bias as I am the only judge and the categories and winners are based solely on the shows I watched this year, but it’s all in the name of fun! So, without further ado make yourself comfortable the show is about to begin…

Quick disclaimer – This list features only shows, or seasons released this year so there is a high likelihood of spoilers, if there’s a new release you’ve been waiting to watch.

Best On-Screen Performance

The nominees are: Zendaya as Rue in Euphoria season 2 and Austin Abrams performing, I Need a Hero as Ethan in Euphoria season 2.

It’s a close one between these two Euphoria performances because on the one hand we have Ethan putting Nate Jacobs in his place and after watching season 2 what could be more satisfying!? But on the other its Zen-day-a!! and need I say more!!

You’ve probably guessed it, but the winner is…

Zendaya!

I can’t imagine I’ll ever stop going on about how good her performance was to be honest. She deserves all the awards.

Biggest Jaw Dropper

The nominees are: The killer being revealed as Lorraine in Stay Close, Ashtray’s death in Euphoria season 2 and Liam Neeson featuring in Derry Girls season 3.

And the winner is

Ashtray’s death in Euphoria season 2

Ok, I promise there will be more winners than just Euphoria, but I mean come on, can you blame me? That whole last episode had me on the edge of my seat!

Favourite On-Screen Couple

And here are the nominees: Nick and Charlie in Heartstopper, Lexi and Fez in Euphoria season 2, Kate and Anthony in Bridgerton season 2 and Diego and Lila in The Umbrella Academy season 3.

And the winners are…

Kate and Anthony in Bridgerton season 2

Let’s be real we all knew it would be Kate and Anthony by a long shot, Bridgerton had me obsessed this season.

The Best Fight Scene

And the nominees are: Maddy V Cassie in Euphoria season 2, Sparrow Academy V The Umbrella Academy in The Umbrella Academy season 3 and Ekin-Su V Nathalia pancake battle in Love Island 2022.

The award goes to:

Maddy V Cassie in Euphoria season 2

I know, I Know, it’s another win for Euphoria. I did actually watch other shows this year, I swear, but there’s no way Maddy wasn’t walking away a winner.

Biggest Guilty Pleasure

The Summer I Turned Pretty

It was between that and Love Island, which this year I would argue has been one of the most dramatic seasons yet but the way The Summer I Turned Pretty used Taylor Swift in the soundtrack at any given moment gave it the edge.

However, speaking of Love Island, that leads us to the next category:

Unmissable Reality Moment

Rather best Love Island moment of 2022 seeing as the nominees are Andrew’s return from Casa Amour and Davide telling Ekin- Su she is a liar and an actress.

This may be the toughest decision I’ve had to make in terms of who wins, as both of these moments will go down in Love Island history. However, after much thought I have come to a decision and the award goes to…

Andrew returning from Casa Amour and explaining to Tasha just what had happened between him and Coco

If you know, you know and if you don’t, I don’t even know how to begin telling you, maybe just google it.

Fastest Binged Show

My winner of Fastest Binged Series this year is Emily in Paris season 2. I don’t know what they put in that show but once you start you literally can’t stop and before you know it, you’ve reached the end of the season and you’re wishing you were in Paris.

Ok, so now we’re up to the last and biggest award of my show.

The Must-See TV Moment of 2022

Before I announce the winner, I would like to praise an honourable mention: Heartstopper.

There isn’t one particular moment in this show that is a must see but rather just the whole series start to finish. It’s so heart-warming and wholesome and you’ll really be rooting for Nick and Charlie as their relationship blossoms.

Now it’s time to reveal the winner of what I think was The Must-See TV Moment of 2022.

And it goes to…

The Derry Girls season 3 closing scene

There has to be something said for that last scene in Derry Girls when Joe walks out holding hands with Erin’s younger sister. In fact, the series in general was one of my favourite watches from this year as a whole, but that scene in particular was a must-see moment.

That concludes our 2022 TV awards but do let us know your thoughts, I’d love to hear your opinions on all the great TV you’ve seen this year.
