Terrifyingly Haunted Tours
Who doesn’t love a good guided tour? The UK has a fascinating haunted history, and most towns offer walking tours of the most haunted spots around. Take your camera and your courage, because you never quite know what you’ll see! One of the best ones to do at this time of year is a Jack the Ripper walking tour. You’ll be lucky (?) enough to get the chance to ogle real old crime scene photos, visit a 300-year-old pub that the Ripper himself may just have had a pint or two at, and hear some of the conspiracy theories
behind who the man really was.
Other scare-worthy tours include:
● London Bridge
● Haunted York
● Bath at Night
● St. James Cemetery in Liverpool
● Shrewsbury Prison
… and numerous castles and hotels across the country. But wherever you are, there’s sure to be one near you… Gather up all your bravery and do it! You’ll most likely have the option of walking tours, bus tours, and of course, virtual tours if you’d rather cuddle up under the blankets with someone and hide your face when things get scary. We won’t judge!
Sinister Screenings
If you aren’t in the mood to hide under the covers and do a Halloween movie marathon, you can head out to Rivoli Pop-Up Cinemas for various Halloween-themed events.
● Halloween Fright Night Cinema: 28th to 31st October
● Halloween 70’s & 80’s Disco And Funk: 26th October
A fun way to get your fill of the creepiest Halloween movies ever made or dance the night away scary-style, with themed cocktails to make the event even more fun!
At-Home Halloween
Don’t feel like going out this year? No worries—you can still have a fun, creepy Halloween evening right from the comfort of your own home. Whether it’s just you, you and a partner, or you’ve got kids in tow, here are some fun things to do from home!
● Dress Up: Just because you aren’t going out, doesn’t mean you can’t have some dress-up fun! For extra enjoyment, create your own costumes out of old clothes, bits of material, and other bits and pieces you find lying around.
● Turn the Lights Down Low: If you have a fire pit, this is the perfect time for a campfire. If not, create your own ambient yet creepy lighting using candles (be careful) or orange, glowing lights. The atmosphere should be on the dark side!
● Makeup Ghost Stories: See who can scare everyone senseless with the creepiest story! Be prepared for some spine-chilling imagination, though… What comes out of your spouse/kids’ mouth might shock you!
● Halloween Decor Art: Carve a pumpkin… a gourd, or anything that you can. Or, draw a pumpkin. Design some of your own decor, however suits you!
● Create a Halloween Playlist: “Thriller”, “Ghostbusters” and more are just Halloween- equal tunes! Have some fun with this one… See how many Halloween-themed songs you can find!
● Create Creepy Cocktails: Love mixing your own drinks? Pick some drinks that could be mistaken for ghoulish things like blood or slime, garnish them with some freaky accessories, and get tipsy!
● Learn Some Magic Tricks: A fun, challenging endeavour that can bring couples and families closer together.
Conclusion
Whether you’re a homebody or a social butterfly (or bat?) Halloween promises a variety of ways to give you a good scare! Pick your poison (or your favourite activity), plan well, and more than anything, have fun… There’ll be some scares, but as long as it’s all in good fun, Halloween could be the most fun day of your year!
