But here we are, the darker nights are closing in, jumpers have filled our wardrobes and we are looking forward to cosy, autumn nights.
One of my favourite times in Autumn is the run-up to Halloween, decorating the house, getting the snacks ready and picking out a scary film to watch in my candlelit living room. However, decorating for Halloween can be tricky and with lockdown restrictions still in place, getting out and about to pick out those decorations might not be possible this year.

1. Spider Centrepieces
This arts and crafts project is no challenge and makes for an effective dinner table centrepiece, decoration in your window, or just outside your front door. All it takes is a mason jar filled with cotton wool (or fake spider web), some battery-operated tea lights and a couple of creepy crawlies.

2. CrochetPumpkins
If crocheting is how you spend your spare time, then you will be able to throw these together in no time. If not, then Etsy is where you can pick these up for a reasonable price. Beautiful crocheted pumpkins are the perfect way to add a touch of Halloween without going full-on spooky season.
3. Wall Art
Another stylish way to inject Halloween spirit into a room is by switching up the art on the wall. Take down your insta quotes and replace them with some spooky designs. Again, you can design these yourself if you are creative, to make them match with your current interior, or you can pick some up from Etsy for a few pounds. 4. Bleeding Candles
Adding “blood” to a candle completely transforms it and is far easier than it looks. Simply turn a standard candle upside down and melt a red candle right above it so the red wax drips onto the candle below. Let it set for a few minutes and then tip the candle round the right way to see the “blood” drip effect around the edge.
5. Paper Bats
If you’re going all out and like to get a little creative you could even create some bat-shaped cut-outs to stick on the front entranceway, or even across the mantlepiece. You will be able to download a bat template online, or just create one yourself to use for the rest of the bats.
6. Halloween Party Cups
If you are having a small party, or if you just fancy making your drinks cups spooky for the fun of it, then this DIY is perfect. Simply stick two googly eyes on each glass or drinks cup. It works best on a black coloured cup or mug and adds a spooky twist. Get creative and add as much Halloween decoration to your cups and your heart desires. 7. Spooky Front Door
If you have got an old Christmas wreath lying around, a drop of black paint and fancy getting creative again, then this one can be loads of fun. Pair that with a Halloween themed doormat and your neighbours know you are prepped for Halloween.
8. Pumpkin Ice Bucket
Want to try something different with a pumpkin this year? Instead of carving the usual face out of it, cut the pumpkin in half across the middle, scoop out the seeds and fill it with ice to create your very own spooky ice bucket. Fill with your favourite drinks ready for a spooky film night.
9. Halloween Sofa
Why not spook-up your sofa; try switching cushion covers for some Halloween inspired designs and pick up a spooky throw. You will be able to pick these up on Amazon. If you want covers you can potentially use again, opt for dark, colours (aubergine, navy and black) rather than Halloween prints.
10. Halloween Mantlepiece
A fireplace is the focal point of any room, so if you want to get really spooky, get decorating it. Take some scissors to an old white sheet and drape it across the mantlepiece. Don’t be afraid to add cobwebs and fake spiders, more is always more. Top with some candles (fake ones would be safer) and you have haunted house chic.
