Ways You Can Celebrate a Stay-At-Home Mother’s Day
Here are a few ideas on how you can still make your Mums day special in lockdown.
Its looking more and more likely we will all be spending another Mother’s Day at home this year, due to the current COVID-19 restrictions. However, this is no excuse to stop all celebrations. I’m sure mum would appreciate any sort of celebration or love more than ever this year, so here are a few ideas on how you can still make her day special in lockdown.
Afternoon Tea Delivery
Afternoon tea is a classic way to celebrate Mother’s Day – you can’t go wrong with cake, pastries and prosecco. Although we will unfortunately not be able to enjoy this whilst sitting in your favourite café or lakeside hotel, lots of places are offering takeaway afternoon teas. Or if you’re someone with a lot of spare time on your hands, you could put a spread together yourself. Decorate your dining room with some pretty crockery, placemats and champagne flutes, and you have yourself a lovely afternoon with your mum.
Group Meal via Facetime
If you’re someone who is celebrating Mother’s Day without your children, mother or grandchildren in the same house, a great way to feel like you’re all together is a group FaceTime or Zoom whilst eating a meal together. You could all arrange for a takeaway to be delivered at the same time, or all cook a roast dinner ready for 5pm, for example. This way you can replicate the atmosphere and conversation of a group meal out whilst staying at home. You can also inject some fun into the video call with some games and quizzes.
A 'Spa Experience' at Home
If your mum is a lover of pamper days, you could always recreate a spa experience at home. Pick 3 specific treatments and provide a DIY version of these at home, whether this is a blow dry, manicure, makeup lesson or facial – put a spa playlist on and let your Mum put her feet up for the day.
Cocktail Making Night
Hosting a cocktail and games night at home is such a simple, but extremely fun idea. You can get basic cocktail shaker kits for less than £5, so just buy some of your mum’s favourite alcohol and you have yourself a party! Pair this with a few classic board games, or even an online quiz and you have a great evening ahead.
Meaningful Gift: video messages from family
If you can’t be with your mum this year, but still want to organise something special for her, then a montage of videos or voice notes from her family is such a meaningful and sentimental gift in these tough times. Pair this with the classic flowers and chocolates and you will have the perfect gift for your mother on her special day.
Although Mother’s Day won’t be ideal this year, it is so important we do everything we can to still try and make it a special day and let our amazing mums know how much they are loved.
