Whether you’re after something light, affordable or a little bit special, we’ve tried a selection of widely available bottles so you can stock up this summer.
Rosé wine has always been popular, but it really had its day last summer, as many of us enjoyed endless bottles whilst cooped away in our homes during lockdown. So now we all have a taste for it, it won’t be going anywhere fast – and there’s nothing better than enjoying a chilled glass whilst sitting in a sunny beer garden.
The most recommended rosé lists will include Whispering Angel – we all know it, we all love it, so there isn’t much need. Rock Angel, however is the popular bottle’s sophisticated older sister. It’s fresh, elegant and comes highly recommended by wine experts. It’s a little pricier, but worth it to try something new and a little unique.
This bottle has become Insta-famous – priced at just £5.49, it is an Aldi super buy! Light with flavours of peach and apple, it’s delicate and fruity and delicious when chilled. Many influencers have flocked to their local store to grab a bottle and they were not disappointed – one to stock up on if you spot it on the shelves!
An iconic choice from St Tropez – Château Minuty, Rose et Or. If you spot a bottle of this on the menu, it’s a must-try! A quality wine recognised as one of the region’s benchmark rosés, Minuty focus on freshness and are one of the very last châteaux in Provence to pick their grapes by hand. Delicate and subtle, it’s fabulous to enjoy on a summer evening.
A super refreshing and light wine, it’s a popular yet affordable choice. Often swept off the supermarket shelves by French wine lovers – this Asda special is floral and delicate, with red berry and melon flavours. It’s a great option for those that are still new to rosé and a delicious drink to enjoy on those hotter days.
A popular Provence Rosé, AIX is often available in bars and restaurants across the globe. A family-run brand making delicious wine, its fragrant and well-balanced offering notes of strawberries and watermelon. AIX is a great choice for day drinking – it’s so easy to drink and super tasty.
A new but fantastic discovery for me is Savōr – all wines are sourced from specific countries and come with recommendations, such as recipes and even music choices. Shopping with them is more of an experience, and what’s more, they plant one tree for every bottle sold. All wines from this female-founded brand are made with ethical and vegan practices, with every bottle promised to be light and smooth.
For a real celebration and those that just love bubbles – there’s no better choice than a boujee bottle of Laurent Perrier, Cuvée Rosé. The world-famous champagne is stylish, delicious and one of the finest sparkling rosés out there. A little bit more on the pricey side – it’s worth it for a lavish summer evening.
