Beauty Tips For When You Haven't Had Enough Sleep

We all know the struggle of not getting enough sleep.

We’ve all been there, whether it was ‘a few drinks’ that turned into coming through the front door at 3am or a night where you were struggling to get your room to the perfect temperature. Whatever the cause, a sleepless night can leave you feeling dazed and exhausted the following morning. So here are some beauty tips and tricks to make it look like you got 12 hours of rest last night.

Step 1:

Hydrate yourself. Now, not technically a beauty tip but it’s definitely an essential after a late night. Drinking water in the morning is important to flush out any toxins and help to keep you hydrated.

Step 2:

Cleanse. If you had a late night where you stumbled in and fell straight asleep, chances are you did not do the best job at removing your makeup. Your skin needs a refresh after a sleepless night and cleansing as soon as you wake up is the perfect way to do that. The Oskia London Renaissance Cleansing gel is packed full of vitamins to revitalise your skin (Spacenk) Consider using a collagen or Vitamin C cleanser to give your skin that much-needed boost.

Step 3:

Hydrate your skin. Your body is hydrated, your skin is cleannow it’s time for your skin to gain some well-deserved moisture. After a poor night’s sleep, skin can appear dull, dry and drab – so it’s important to restore that glow. Apply your favourite hydrating moisturiser to revive your skin.

Step 4:

Brighten the eyes. If you’ve not slept well, the biggest giveaway will be your eyes. Redness, dark circles and puffiness are the main signs you didn’t get enough Zzz’s. The eye area is sensitive so be gentle. If you have the time, under eye patches are a great way to reduce the puffiness and signs of fatigue. The 111 Skin sub-zero de-puffing eye mask (111skin) does exactly what it says on the packaging and is a favourite here at Cohorted Cult as it was featured in our Winter Feels Beauty Box. (Cohorted) If you’re rushing out the door and don’t have as much time, then an eye roller is the quick-fix you need. The Clinique All About Eyes De-Puffing eye massage is a rollon serum to refresh your tired eyes. (Clinique) If a roll-on isn’t quite your style, then a targeted cream can have the same brightening effects – Kiehls Midnight Recovery Eye Cream targets dark circles to make the eyes appear more awake (Kiehls)

Step 5:

Try your best to get enough sleep the night after. Countless sleepless nights can begin to have long-term impacts on your mind and body as well as your physical appearance.
