Summer Lovin’

[eltd_dropcaps type=”normal” color=”” background_color=””]Y[/eltd_dropcaps]ou’ve binge-watched Normal People, developed a mild case of repetitive strain injury from swiping left on boys who are ‘just looking for a quarantine buddy ;)’ and Love Island 2020 (much like my own love life) is cancelled.

If you’re a hopeless romantic like myself and need your fix of summer lovin’ in the absence of skin-tight white jeans peacocking around a firepit (I mock, but I’ve never missed an episode), then pick up a love story.

A 5-Day Self-Care and Relaxation Challenge

[eltd_dropcaps type=”normal” color=”” background_color=””]L[/eltd_dropcaps]et’s face it… 2020 has not been a great year for us all. There has been so much anxiety, uncertainty and worry that it’s not surprising a lot of people feel emotionally exhausted and drained.

If that’s you, then know you’re not alone!

Veganism isn’t Just Another Fleeting Trend

[eltd_dropcaps type=”normal” color=”” background_color=””]C[/eltd_dropcaps]hoosing to be vegan is not some new millennial trend that will fade away once we all ‘grow out of it’. People have been choosing to avoid eating meat and other animal products for around 2000 years. Vegetarianism can even be traced back to 500 BC where Pythagoras (yes, the same philosopher and mathematician who taught us about triangles) promoted kindness to all species.

Sure, in the last few years there has been an incredible surge of people making the switch to veganism, but that’s only because the way in which we are communicating with one another has become so instant. In 2019 there were 600,000 recorded vegans in the UK, which is quadruple the amount recorded in 2016.

Are we in danger of becoming a contradiction?

[eltd_dropcaps type=”normal” color=”” background_color=””]A[/eltd_dropcaps]s the country begins to reopen, I can’t help but feel a little uneasy. I’m writing this as pictures of a strange-looking high street dominate the news. Hours before opening, queues of retail-deprived shoppers eagerly await their turn to embrace what’s inside. Some images illustrate textbook social distancing; others resemble frantic January-sale madness.

By the time this is published, I’m not sure how it will look. Perhaps we’re seeing more similar scenes, except the queues, extend to hair salons, cinemas, bars and restaurants.

Is HIIT really the best way to torch those calories?

[eltd_dropcaps type=”normal” color=”” background_color=””]H[/eltd_dropcaps]igh Intensity Interval Training. Hearing the word HIIT is set to either get you pumped to join in or running for cover. But by now, the majority of us have come across the fat-blasting form of fitness in one way or another. Is it really the magic form of training we all need to be doing? And if you’re on the latter end of the spectrum running for cover, is there another solution?

10 Ways to Lift Your Mood

[eltd_dropcaps type=”normal” color=”” background_color=””]L[/eltd_dropcaps]et’s try to shift any negative or unwanted energy together. It’s important to lift yourself in times of need and it’s just as important to protect your energy at every possible chance you can. 2020 has been a rollercoaster of a year and we’ve all been impacted by something in one way or another and however, we deal with this is down to us. We’re allowed to feel low, frustrated, disappointed or however else, but we must not let it control us and we must not let it determine the upcoming months.

Here are the simple but effective and mood boosters to try out:

What a 7-Year-Long Relationship Taught Me About Romantic Love

[eltd_dropcaps type=”normal” color=”” background_color=””]A[/eltd_dropcaps]ny kind of relationship is hard, there’s no denying that. But when it comes to romantic relationships and the bond they form, it’s a completely different ballpark. They can often leave you feeling dejected and regularly questioning what it is that you want from life. On the flip side, they can also offer an exhilarating and fulfilling experience that no other kind of relationship can match. Having had the privilege of experiencing a 7-year-long relationship, there are a few lessons I learned about what romantic love actually entails.

Retreat To The Bedroom

[eltd_dropcaps type=”normal” color=”” background_color=””]T[/eltd_dropcaps]here is no getting away from the fact this has been a mad year. With the ever-present threat of impending doom looming large, I have been finding solace in my bedroom.

It might have grim brown carpets, ones that my landlord will not change, and trams whizzing past every five minutes, but it has become my favourite place to retreat. By really considering what I was lacking in the communal areas of my home, I have been able to create a space that is specifically designed to be a calming, special place just for me.

Here are a few ways you can transform your space from snore (pun intended) into a sanctuary:
