Halloween at Home

[eltd_dropcaps type=”normal” color=”” background_color=””]2020[/eltd_dropcaps] is the year we’ll never forget, that’s for sure. What could be scarier than a global pandemic and being told to stay at home for months on end?

I decided to travel abroad in the middle of the pandemic…

In September, I booked a flight from Manchester to Milan 24 hours before take-off. Insane, I know, but after realising I’d spent the past six months sat working from the same table I sit to eat my dinner, it hit me all at once that I needed a break. My partner and I also realised our eight-year anniversary was approaching, so why not?

Initially, when I saw people travelling and going abroad a few months back, my thoughts were – why risk it? But now, after months of people going away and seeing the world, I’d come around to the idea, as long as it was safe.

Post Lockdown: Staying safe in gyms

[eltd_dropcaps type=”normal” color=”” background_color=””]D[/eltd_dropcaps]uring this crazy, uncertain time it is normal to feel nervous to go back to the gym; but there are ways you and your gym can make sure you are safe and comfortable.

The first thing to remember before you head back into your old gym routine is that your body might not be as strong as it was before lockdown. Don’t get disheartened, because every single person is in the same position. The fun part now is rebuilding your strength (safely of course).

Some Perks Of Pressing Pause On Travel

In this current climate of staying in and not travelling to far from home, it’s hard not to get upset about any trips you had lined up. So many of us have had to put a pin in our plans or cancel them altogether. But the world will still be there waiting for us to explore.

And there are some perks of pressing pause on travel, even if only momentarily.

Are we in danger of becoming a contradiction?

[eltd_dropcaps type=”normal” color=”” background_color=””]A[/eltd_dropcaps]s the country begins to reopen, I can’t help but feel a little uneasy. I’m writing this as pictures of a strange-looking high street dominate the news. Hours before opening, queues of retail-deprived shoppers eagerly await their turn to embrace what’s inside. Some images illustrate textbook social distancing; others resemble frantic January-sale madness.

By the time this is published, I’m not sure how it will look. Perhaps we’re seeing more similar scenes, except the queues, extend to hair salons, cinemas, bars and restaurants.

Don’t Put Yourself On Hold

[eltd_dropcaps type=”normal” color=”” background_color=””]W[/eltd_dropcaps]hen the odds are against you and you feel as though you’re not getting anywhere any time soon, don’t give up. This is a great time for growth, we just have to build a bit of courage and break through the barriers. This has been an incredibly hard time for us all. We’ve all had different coping mechanisms to deal with this (some much better than others but either way, we’re in it together) but with that being said, we’ve got through the worst of it. We can continue to move forward.
